Overview

The MPU-6500 is InvenSense's (TDK) second-generation 6-axis IMU, offering improved noise performance and smaller package (3×3mm QFN-24) compared to the MPU-6000. It maintains full SPI/I²C compatibility, making it a drop-in upgrade for existing flight controller designs using the MPU-6000. Widely adopted in Betaflight F4/F7 flight controllers, gimbal stabilizers, and ArduPilot autopilots.

Key applications: Betaflight/Cleanflight FC boards, ArduPilot/PX4 autopilots, FPV drone ESC telemetry, handheld gimbal stabilization, industrial vibration monitoring.
