The W25Q16JV is Winbond's entry-level 16Mb (2MB) W25Q series NOR Flash. As the smallest density in the W25Q JV family, it is optimized for applications requiring modest firmware or configuration storage — including drone radio receivers (ELRS, FrSky), small sensor boards, and IoT modules.
The 2MB capacity is sufficient to hold typical ELRS receiver firmware (<500KB), bootloader + application code for small MCUs, or calibration data for sensors. At 104MHz SPI, it reads faster than most microcontrollers can process, making it ideal for XIP (execute-in-place) in non-critical applications.
